The Trail Runs

WEDNESDAY

Delicate ARCH TRAIL run/shakeout/INtro to moab

This 3.2 mile welcome run/hike to visit the most iconic arch in the park is a perfect way to shake off the travel legs to get us ready for a big weekend exploring the red rocks of Moab.

THURSDAY

island in the sky (out and back): a bird's eye view

Campers will have an option of making this a very flat 5 mile out and back on the rim or extending it to include some downhill and uphill climbing making the route longer. Either way, the views from the rim are breathtaking.

FRIDAY

NAVAJO ROCKS: the deep canyons

We will head to the Navajo Rocks Area today to practice running on slick rock and check out views of the surrounding valley.

We will have a 9 mile loop or a shorter out and back option for campers today.

SATURDAY

Amasa Back Adventure DAy

This will be our long run day! We will also have two/three options that we are currently working on between 7-8 miles and between 13-14 miles. If anyone is interested in an 18 miler, we will be able to accommodate you as well. We will have the opportunity to see a few rock art sites and dinosaur prints as well :)

sunday

OPTIONAL GOODBYE SHAKE OUT RUN

3-4 miles on a trail near where we are staying. TBD. It’s all beautiful anyways ;)

DESERT PANORAMA

Our headquarters for camp

We are thrilled to have snagged this luxury vacation rental that is big enough to accomodate our running camp. With 4000 sq. feet indoors and an additional 2000 sq. feet of outdoor patio space including a firepit, pool and two hot tubs, we will have plenty of space to relax amongst the red rocks of Moab. We are also only 10 minutes from downtown Moab and 15 minutes to the entrance of Arches National Park. We will truly have the camp experience with shared accomodation with with our fellow campers.

“Camp was a great way to learn more about serious trail running in a supportive and non-competitive environment. I was relieved that my fitness level was in the same ballpark as many of the other women, but I also valued the exposure to more hardcore athletes. That was a unique combination that I think might be hard to find elsewhere.

FAQ

  • Trail runners of varying paces and abilities are welcome to camp. That said, this is not a hiking camp! Please look at the planned runs to make sure this is something you will be able to do. If you aren’t sure, reach out to us and we can figure it out together :)

Our longest run will be 13 trail miles with some rocky terrain and climbing (3.5-4 hours) and while there is no time limit, out of respect for the other participants, please arrive to camp willing and able to take this on.

We want to challenge and support each other during this camp. We don’t expect you to be an elite athlete but we do want to make sure you are prepared.

  • There is a non-refundable $600 deposit due at registration.

Cancel between registration before October 6th and receive a full refund minus the non-refundable deposit.

No refunds will be given for cancellations after October 6th, 2024.

Late cancellations make it extremely costly for us to find other participants and we are likely to take a loss. If you are concerned about a potential issue, we strongly encourage purchasing trip insurance.

  • Make sure to pack a variety of running clothing for both hot and cool temperatures as weather in Moab is still warm during the day but can be chilly at night. You need a hydration pack that can carry at least 2 liters of water. Pack your favorite running snacks and of course trail shoes, hats and sunscreen. Don’t forget a bathing suit for the pool and hot tub. Bring casual clothes to hang out in town but for the most part we will be eating and chilling at headquarters.

  • There will be a complimentary shuttle leaving Grand Junction Airport at 2pm on Wednesday, November 6th. On Sunday morning, we will leave Moab by 9:30 am arriving by 11:30 am. Please plan your flights accordingly :)

If you can’t make our shuttle or fly into this airport there is an opportunity to fly into Moab airport and we can arrange a pick up from there. On Sunday, we will leave for the airport by 9:30 am arriving by 11:30 am so plan your flights out for the early afternoon.

  • A healthy breakfast bar will be offered each morning at camp headquarters, we will prepare picnic lunches for the trail and our dinners will be catered by our in-house Chef Emily! In addition, headquarters will be stocked with a variety of snacks, waters, and other drinks. We will also be bringing Tailwind fuel to try on the trail as well but suggest you also bring the fuel you are used to using for big days out :)

  • One thing I learned from my own running camp experiences is although I loved spending time doing planned things, I also really wanted a few hours of down time. For those of you who may want to nap, have a second run, go into town or read a book by the pool, we have this time built in for you.
